Musabey Babayev, Director of the "Strategic Thinking" Student Diplomacy Center, participated in an event titled "Brazil: a strategic partnership for Germany in times of geopolitical uncertainty." The event was jointly organized with the Institute for Latin American Studies of the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and held at the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin.

In his opening remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the MERCOSUR-EU agreement, the Hannover Industrial Fair (HANNOVER MESSE)—where Brazil serves as the partner country this month—as well as the opportunity to better utilize the economic complementarity potential between Brazil and Germany through Brazil's new industrial policy. He also noted the importance of bilateral cooperation at institutional and academic levels during times of geopolitical instability.

The Ambassador and other participants discussed opportunities and challenges in areas such as trade diversification, sustainability, security, and multilateralism.

The program also included a speech by Professor Dr. Merike Blofield, Director of the GIGA Institute for Latin American Studies, and two panel discussions:

The first panel, moderated by Uta Knott, Head of the Latin America Department at the Federation of German Industries (BDI), was dedicated to economic relations between the two countries.

The second panel, moderated by Professor Dr. Christian von Soest, Head of the GIGA Berlin Office, focused on the political context of Germany-Brazil relations.

The discussions featured the Ambassador, Dr. Ursina Krumpholz (Head of the Latin America Division at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy - BMWE), Dr. Malu Gatto (Researcher at University College London - UCL), as well as other GIGA experts. Among the guests were representatives of development cooperation foundations, academic institutions, civil society organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, and business circles.
